Competitive Analysis:
A competitive analysis of sustainable fashion apps and digital wardrobe platforms was conducted to evaluate user expectations, feature gaps, and engagement strategies. By examining tools like Good On You and Whering, opportunities were identified for ClosetMate to differentiate itself through a seamless blend of wardrobe tracking, AR outfit visualization, and intuitive sustainability insights.

Interview:
Virtual interviews with members of ClosetMate’s target audience provided firsthand insights into sustainable fashion habits, wardrobe challenges, and user expectations. These conversations revealed key pain points and preferences, informing the app’s features and ensuring a personalized, user-friendly experience that supports mindful fashion choices.

User Persona & Journey Map:
A user persona and journey map were developed to better understand ClosetMate’s target audience and their interaction with sustainable fashion tools. The persona outlined key goals, frustrations, and behaviors, guiding design decisions throughout the project. The journey map visualized major touchpoints and pain points, helping to refine features and create a more intuitive and engaging user experience.

POV Statement:
A Point of View (POV) statement was developed to clearly define ClosetMate’s user needs and challenges, ensuring a user-centered design approach. This statement served as a guiding framework, aligning design decisions with the core problem ClosetMate aims to solve. By focusing on the user’s perspective, the POV statement helped create intentional, engaging, and purposeful interactions.

HMW Statement:
Five How Might We (HMW) statements were created to explore innovative solutions for ClosetMate’s user experience. These statements framed key challenges, including maximizing wardrobe use, supporting sustainable choices, and reducing outfit indecision. By approaching problems with an open-ended mindset, the HMW statements encouraged creative problem-solving and guided the design process toward user-centered, engaging solutions.

Design Concept Statement:
A design concept statement was developed to define ClosetMate’s core vision and purpose, ensuring a cohesive, user-centered experience. This statement articulated the goal of empowering users to maximize their wardrobes through sustainable fashion tools. It established a clear direction, guiding aesthetic choices, feature development, and overall usability to reinforce ClosetMate’s identity as an intuitive and eco-conscious platform.

Wireframe Sketches:
Wireframe sketches were created to establish ClosetMate’s foundational layout and structure before developing high-fidelity designs. This step mapped out key features, user flows, and navigation, allowing for quick iteration and refinement. The wireframes prioritized usability and functionality, serving as the groundwork for an intuitive and engaging user experience.

Mid-fidelity Prototypes & User Testing:
Interactive prototypes were developed to bring ClosetMate’s design to life, followed by user testing to gather valuable feedback. This process was essential for identifying usability issues, refining navigation, and ensuring a seamless and intuitive experience. Testing with real users allowed for iterative improvements, strengthening functionality, engagement, and validating key design decisions.

Iteration & Final Designs:
User feedback from testing was analyzed to refine ClosetMate’s design, leading to iterative improvements based on real needs and pain points. Navigation challenges were addressed, key features were enhanced, and the overall experience was optimized. This process strengthened ClosetMate’s usability, resulting in a polished, user-centered platform that supports sustainable and mindful fashion choices.

Storyboard:
A storyboard was created to visualize how users interact with ClosetMate in real-life scenarios, mapping out key moments in their journey. This step helped illustrate user behaviors, emotions, and pain points, allowing for refinement of features and overall flow. By storytelling through design, the storyboard ensured ClosetMate delivered a seamless, engaging, and user-centered experience.
